Michael George

CEO

Mike is a seasoned insurance executive with over 30 years of experience in building and leading Canadian Property and Casualty insurers from the ground up. His expertise spans surety and specialty insurance operations, with a strong focus on innovation and strategic growth. Throughout his career, Mike has held key leadership positions including serving on the boards of several prominent Canadian insurance entities. As CEO of Tokio Marine Canada, Mike is committed to leveraging Tokio Marine Group’s global resources and strength to build a significant and meaningful presence in the Canadian insurance market. Outside of work, Mike prefers to be found with a fishing rod or a golf club in hand, although he claims to be better at fishing.

Daniel Singer

Chief Financial Officer, Chief Compliance Officer & Chief Risk Officer

Daniel Singer, CPA, CA is Tokio Marine Canada’s Chief Financial Officer, Chief Compliance Officer and Chief Risk Officer. He also oversees the Actuarial, Investments, Governance and Internal Controls functions at TMCan. Daniel has 18 years of industry experience, during which time has developed a deep understanding of every function of the insurance business. Most recently, Daniel held the position of Director of Taxation (Head of Canadian Tax Operations) at a leading property and casualty insurance company in Canada. His leadership extends to prominent roles on several boards and committees, including the Board of the Canadian Insurance Accountants Association and the Insurance Bureau of Canada’s Finance Standing Committee. Daniel holds an Honours Bachelor degree in Business Administration, Accounting/Finance from Wilfred Laurier University. Outside of work, he has a keen interest in history, geopolitics, geography, and hockey, and is known to enjoy traveling and exploring cuisines from different cultures and countries.

Jumpei Amano

Chief Operations Officer & Corporate Liaison

With 20 years of industry experience, Jumpei has a diverse background encompassing Corporate Strategy, M&A, Sales/Marketing etc. Before joining Tokio Marine Canada in his role as Chief Operations Officer & Corporate Liaison, Jumpei served as Vice President, Operations and Corporate Liaison at Tokio Marine North America Inc. working on a number of synergy projects to integrate the expertise of the Tokio Marine Group companies in North America and enhance Tokio Marine’s presence in the region. Jumpei has an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. In his spare time, Jumpei enjoys playing and watching all kinds of sports, but especially soccer and running.

Alison Donato

Senior Vice President, Commercial Insurance Solutions

As Senior Vice President, Commercial Insurance Solutions, Alison brings over 17 years of experience in the Canadian P&C industry, focused on underwriting, P&L strategy, and strong market relationships. She shapes her view of personal achievement around the success and growth of key stakeholders, delivering client satisfaction through collaboration, agility, and solutions-based thinking. Alison began her career as an underwriting assistant, progressing at large domestic and multinational insurers to a P&L owner of portfolios in excess of CAD$300M GWP. Most recently, she served as Chief Technical Underwriter at a major Canadian P&C insurer, where her focus on technical underwriting capability, governance, pricing, and risk management helped achieve significant growth and profitability for their commercial lines portfolio. Outside work, Alison enjoys spending time outdoors with her young family, playing recreational sports, and sharing laughter with friends.

Chris Kucman

Senior Vice President, Surety Solutions

With over 23 years of experience in surety and banking, Chris is a leader in the surety and construction sectors. As Senior Vice President, Surety Solutions at Tokio Marine Canada, Chris leads a dedicated team across Canada, driving success in the surety industry. He also oversees Marketing and Distribution, helping build the brand and strengthening TMCan’s broker relationships. Prior to joining TMCan, Chris played a pivotal role at a leading insurance company, contributing from its inception in 2006. He led the surety team in Ontario and Atlantic Canada and eventually oversaw branch operations and broker distribution across the country.  Chris holds an Honours Bachelor of Commerce from McMaster University where he gained valuable business ownership experience during his university years.  Outside of work, Chris is married with two amazing young girls.

Elizabeth Diotte

Senior Vice President, Professional & Financial Solutions

Elizabeth brings over 25 years of extensive insurance leadership experience in underwriting, claims management, loss control management and business development to her role as Senior Vice President, Professional Lines at Tokio Marine Canada. Throughout her career, she has held senior roles that included overseeing regional operations and business development, including Chief Operating Officer of a member-owned insurer focused on providing specialized coverage for municipalities in Quebec. Her deep understanding of the professional and financial lines space in the Canadian insurance industry, along with her strong relationships within the broker community, are integral components to delivering on TMCan’s strategic plan. She has served on the Professional Liability Underwriting Society Quebec branch of the Canadian chapter for over 15 years, and in her spare time, she loves hiking, kayaking, reading and interior decorating

Craig Emuss

Senior Vice President, Specialty Risk

A seasoned specialty lines leader, Craig brings over 20 years of experience to the team at Tokio Marine Canada, with a proven track record of sustained growth and profitability. As Senior Vice President, Specialty Risk, he drives success through strong client partnerships and a focused business strategy tailored to the specialty insurance industry. Before joining TMcan, Craig held roles at prominent national insurers, including Head of Portfolio Solutions, where he led large programs and MGAs, and Vice President of Specialty Risk.

Francine Armel

Senior Vice President, Claims and Corporate Counsel

Francine began her career as a litigator in private practice, providing defense and coverage counsel for various insurers in professional lines and CGL. With over 25 years of experience in the insurance industry, Francine has handled specialty casualty claims, including CGL, professional liability, crime, financial institutions and directors’ and officers’ liability, bringing extensive expertise to her role as Senior Vice President, Claims and Corporate Counsel. In prior roles, before joining TMCan,  she was responsible for specialty lines underwriting business units at large global insurers, as well as at an MGA.  Her prior roles also included managing product development and streamlining operations in collaboration with operations, actuarial, finance and IT teams.

Méline Van Slyke, CHRL

Senior Vice President, Human Resources & Office Services

As Senior Vice President, Human Resources & Office Services at Tokio Marine Canada, Méline brings over 25 years of extensive HR leadership experience across a variety of industries, including commercial real estate, financial services, technology, life sciences, automotive, geomatics, and hospitality. Her career spans from small startups to global organizations, where she has adeptly balanced strategy with execution, building HR infrastructure and implementing cutting-edge initiatives on national and global scales. A respected HR leader and trusted advisor, Méline creates strategic advantage through innovative human capital strategies that foster collaboration, inclusion, and the development of great people. Méline holds a Bachelor of Arts from McMaster University and her CHRL professional designation.  She is happily married to her husband and they have 2 cats. Outside of work, she enjoys interior design and gardening, both of which served her well having gone through a recent major renovation to her family home of 3 generations.

Julia Perle

Senior Vice President, Information Technology

As Senior Vice President of IT, Julia is responsible for leading the organization’s technology operations. With over a decade of experience in P&C technology, Julia previously served as SVP of IT Governance at Aviva and VP of Software Engineering Operations before that. Her career began at Chubb Insurance, where she managed diverse teams and initiatives across software engineering, DevOps, database administration, support, QA, business analysis, project management, and project delivery. Julia holds a Bachelor of Commerce with a specialization in Information Technology Management from the Ted Rogers School of Management at Toronto Metropolitan University. Outside of work, Julia enjoys staying active through yoga, pilates, swimming, rock climbing, and spending time at the park with her daughter.
